Commission a drawing or painting

For a custom drawing or painting, email a message to let me know what you have in mind.
I will need clear reference photos, preferably with strong lighting and shadows. I can sometimes work with old photos if there is enough detail, although the better the photo, the better the result. Please include any other details that will give me an idea of what you would like, such as the size, colour etc.
Every project is unique and special. Many factors determine a final price.

I use acid free and archival high quality art supplies to make realistic and very detailed portraits. I require a payment of $50 to hold your place in the commission books.
After mutual acceptance of a quote/contract I require a 50% payment start planning the portrait. This payment covers the cost of planning correspondence, materials and equipment costs and to save your space on the calendar. The payment is non refundable and ensures that you get exactly what you want in your portrait before it is started as changes afterwords are sometimes extremely difficult, if not impossible, depending on the media used.
Commissions take time and collaboration. They can take anywhere from two to eight weeks or longer to complete depending on the size, the medium etc. Detailed drawings and coloured pencils drawings will take longer than paintings so be sure to give the process lots of time.
Upon confirmation of the details of your portrait, I require the remaining 50% to start the drawing or painting. This payment covers the cost of the time and the workmanship I put into the artwork. Periodic updates will be sent by email if you choose. When your portrait is finished I will notify you and pick up or shipping can be arranged.
Insured shipping is a separate cost as it can vary greatly depending on the destination and which courier service is used.
I thank you so much for your support.
